Pownce

For a while now there has been rumors flying around that Digg’s Keven Rose has a new project that he’s been working on. Some major blog sites were trying to figure it out but he kept it to himself and allowed nothing to surface. On June 27th he finally went public with the project. It’s called Pownce. It’s a web based sharing network with an optional desktop client for advanced features.

So far it has been mostly compared to Twitter, which shares the same basic concept as Pownce. When I compared the two the first thing that I noticed is that Pownce has a cleaner/better looking interface. Right now the four basic things you can share are messages, files, links and events. It seems that this isn’t anything that couldnt already be done with e-mail except you can share it with multiple people who are “friends” of yours. I personally don’t know how long my personal interest is going to last in this web app, but if you would like to try it out I have a few invites left to give out.
